Governor Huckabee's Hypocrisy
January, 2015 - Mike Huckabee must be getting ready to run for President. In his new book and in some follow-up comments, the former Republican Governor of Arkansas and onetime Fox host criticized the First Family for allowing their daughters to listen to music performed by Beyoncé.
The Governor's claim was that Beyoncé's lyrics were inappropriate for teenagers to listen to.
Now, at theProGunDemocrat.com, we may not be big into Beyoncé, but we've heard some of her music and we didn't remember there being anything particularly inappropriate about it, so we asked around a bit and couldn't find anyone who agreed with the Governor's assessment.
Some of Beyoncé's music may not be appealing to older audiences but, other than Christmas carols, is there any music that just about everyone does like?

So just what was the Governor's point? Well, as with too many other right-wing politicians, we have to conclude that he simply was pandering to a segment of the population that dislikes the President for more than policy reasons and whose votes the Governor would like to have.
We say that because Governor Huckabee's point couldn't have been a true concern about lyrics and role models for teens and young adults, given that fact that, just a few years ago, he appeared on stage playing guitar with aging rocker Ted Nugent. Mr. Nugent, of course, is well-known for his off-color lyrics and his own personal obscene vocabulary.
Appearing on the Daily Show recently, Jon Stewart asked the Governor about this apparent contradiction.
We were hoping the Governor would take this opportunity to show a true concern about popular music lyrics by suggesting he may have been wrong in performing with Mr. Nugent and offering criticism of Mr. Nugent's lyrics as well.
Instead, he offered up a lame excuse for his hypocritical behavior of criticizing Beyoncé while performing with Mr. Nugent, saying that Nugent's music really is for adults and that everyone knows that.
Good grief, have far right politicians like Mike Huckabee, and the "base" they are trying to reach, lost their moral compass?
Will politicians on the far right say and do anything in their quest for votes and believe they should not be held accountable for blatant hypocrisy?
This is particularly disturbing from someone like Governor Huckabee, who purports to be a devout Christian. At theProGunDemocrat.com we expect more from our elected leaders. And when it comes time for us to cast our ballots, we will support only those who are trying to bring the country together, and not those who are trying to pull it further apart.
