It's Easter Week So, Naturally, Trump Sends Profane, Criminal, and Blasphemous Messages
April 2026 - We always enjoy discussing Donald Trump with those of his defenders who claim themselves to be devout Christians. It's not as if Mr. Trump has said or done only one or two things that we can point to when we question how a devout Christian still can support him. He regularly provides us with ammunition that we like to share with our fundamentalist friends, ammunition that they typically try to ignore because they have no defense for it.
Mr. Trump's behavior may have reached a new low this Easter Week, however. As Christians around the world reflected on the life, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, Mr. Trump's week included the following actions:
1 - He issued an Easter Sunday tweet filled with considerable profanity, the mocking of Islam, and threats of war crimes.
Here is the transcript of that tweet, which we read and confirmed from numerous sources (we do not participate on his Truth Social platform), albeit with the worst of the obscenities somewhat censored:
"Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F***in' Strait, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah".
Trump ally, Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis), told reporters: "I do not want to see us start blowing up civilian infrastructure....We are not at war with the Iranian people." (Image from newsweek.com)
2 - On the Monday and Tuesday following Easter, as his unprovoked war against Iran continued to deteriorate, Mr. Trump lashed out like a petulant child who can't get his way, threatening the annihilation of an entire society:
Monday, to reporters in the White House briefing room: "We have a plan, because of the power of our military, where every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o'clock tomorrow night, where every power plant in Iran will be out of business, burning, exploding and never to be used again. It will take them 100 years to rebuild."
Tuesday, on Truth Social: "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will."
"However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?"
"We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World, 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!"
The actions against civilian populations that Mr. Trump threatened are, of course, universally acknowledged to be war crimes.
3 - He sent out an AI-generated meme of himself in the role of Jesus:
While Mr. Trump reportedly deleted this image after lamely trying to say it really just pictured himself in the role of a doctor, we have neither heard nor talked to anyone who believed that explanation. (Isn't it ironic that Mr. Trump would try and claim to be a healer of the sick after signing the GOP's 2025 tax and spending bill, the result of which is estimated to cost millions of Americans their health insurance and to close down dozens, if not hundreds, of rural hospitals.)
Former strong Trump supporter Marjorie Taylor Greene responded to the meme with: "I completely denounce this and I'm praying against it!!!" (image from foxnews.com)
Thankfully, each of these communications was universally condemned by leaders of both major political parties and by religious leaders throughout the country. Around the world, people continue to shake their heads and/or laugh at how a country that historically has been the beacon of freedom throughout the globe could have elected such a person to the Presidency.
For those of you who consider yourselves Christians, but continue to support Mr. Trump, we'd love to talk with you regarding these latest examples of what so many conservative Christians have called disgusting behavior, and hear why you feel Mr. Trump still can be considered a role model for your children.
